Downtown

We got to go for a short tour of the downtown-ish area of paris. I was simply amazed. I have seen pictures but to actually be here is something else. I love the old buildings and the architecture and all the crazy winding streets. The mixture of modern and old design is just beautiful.

We saw the statue of Winston Churchill as well which I thought was pretty cool! There was a whole bunch of different things we got to see, and tomorrow we are going on our actual city tour so I will get photos then... but we are currently navigating through the tight streets of Paris and on our way to Versailles as I mentioned earlier.. until later!

Flight To Paris + such

Written FRIDAY MORNING

The flight to Paris was very long and and very stiff. It was a good six and a half hours long and we were delayed about an hour. After eating dinner and candies I attempted to fall asleep, but that was not a success. I didn’t have a window seat, or near a window seat so I couldn’t get those sunrise shots, but maybe on the way back. The first thing I saw on the land was farming fields, it was different then our farming fields, it seemed more natural. Touching down we went into the terminal, I saw some of the usual police officers, then I saw a woman in uniform carrying a FAMAS-12 assault rifle that was chained to her jacket. Then we met our tour director, Sigi, she is from Germany and is a very nice lady.

We had a choice of chicken and pasta for our meal on the plane. I chose pasta, which was actually cheese cannelloni, it was rather good. There was a selection of movies that we were able to watch on the small tv screens on the back of each seat but I thought i’d be able to sleep so didn’t bother with them, I would regret it later. Falling asleep was very hard, the chairs were comfortable but I’ve never found it easy to fall asleep in a chair, especially with all the excitement running through me. I ended up falling asleep for an hour and then after another hour we landed.

Getting off the plane we entered an extremely hot and musty terminal, but thankfully we weren’t in there for to long. We met our tour director and got our baggage, then onto the bus we went. Driving mainly on the highways we saw large amounts of graffiti on the walls and bridges, I can tell already graffiti is a huge part of there culture, but that is obvious since graffiti is an art form, its everywhere here. That leads to now, we are driving to Versailles. I am really, really excited.

The flight to washington

I didn't know how much I missed plane rides so much until we took off. We were on a very small plane, it had one seat on the left and two on the right. I couldn't stand up straight without my head hitting the roof of the plane, it was nuts! First off I wasn't to excited about where I was sitting but then I eventually got to move into a better spot once everyone sat down.

The sights were pretty nice, not to much just the average things,, but seeing them at that height makes it completely different. It looked like one of those little model sets of a town. I was lucky enough to get the seat that had the wing to my left and behind me a little. It was exactly what I wanted.

Well now were waiting in the airport for the next flight, in total we had a six hour layover. So about five-ish more hours to go. Ended up buying an 24 hour internet connection for 7.99 US and bought some nice wendy's...mmmmm... not much more to say not gonna lie just that I am EXTREMELY excited!

Until PARIS :)

The morning up till Toronto airport!

We are currently sitting in the terminal and it is very hot. Getting through security wasn’t much of a hastle, the only thing was one of our passports had a little trouble getting through. I had absolutely no problem though, besides being nervous when asked “Where are you going, does your family know your here, who paid for the ticket, whats in Europe, when are you coming home?” Not a very welcoming bunch of people but it was ok.

Getting up this morning was ok, it was early but oh well. Went to timmies then to school where we loaded the bus and off we went. It was still very dark and as we were driving I was extremely tired and wanted to sleep, but the excitement was to much to close my eyes. I didn’t get many pics but I did capture one that I liked. I took it on the bus when it was still dark with some creative twisting of the camera.

We walked into the airport and to be honest i didn’t really know what I was doing, thank god for the other experienced flyers. After going through the usual system of an airport we found ourselves running to the washrooms and looking for that famous coffee cup. Grabbed some coffee and pulled the computer out!

Boarding in about five minutes, time to pack up!

The last sleep

OMG

Its 9:12 on Wednesday night and I'm in bed about to TRY and sleep. I feel very tired but at the same time my mind doesn't seem to want to stop racing!

I am so excited for tomorrow.. I've been waiting for this night for so long. From the beginning I wished it was sooner but now that its time I realize all the time waiting and getting excited has just made it that much better.

One of the huge things that I have been excited for would have to be Vimy. Vimy is where Canada made history. We did what no one else could do. Visiting the memorial site will be, truly, an honor, and it will be a moment of remembrance. Remembrance to think back on seeing pictures, video and reading text on/from the war, seeing the young Canadians in battle and fighting for their country, for a humane world.

That is just one thing, and the night of that day I am sure I will be writing a full on report on the days details including pictures.

I think I should sleep, getting up at three... :)

Till tomorrow
